Palm Spring's Social Cancellations Continue Even After Pandemic

Inside Evening Under The Star's postponement.

(Palm Springs, CA) One of the Coachella Valley's most anticipated Gala's announced that it would be postponing its event for the third consecutive year. This comes as devastating news to the thousands of Palm Spring's residents, socialites, and donors who hoped to reconnect after a nearly two-year pandemic.

In a statement given to the Desert Sun, Mark Anton, the executive director of AAP- Food Samaritans cited "supply chain issues, labor shortages, food cost increases" as prohibiting factors that led to the cancellation of Evening Under The Stars, AAP's annual fundraiser.

Despite the financial uncertainty, another Coachella Valley non-profit is continuing with its gala plans. Brother of the Desert, an organization serving black gay men and their allies will be hosting its Spring Affair: A Dinner and Dance Party on April 16, 2022, at the Margaritaville Resort and Spa. This event itself is a result of an NYE cancellation due to the omicron surge last winter.

Unlike Evening Under The Stars where tickets can easily cost more than $400.00 USD, tickets to Spring Affair will only set back patrons roughly $125 USD. Nonetheless, both organizations raise money for worthy calls. AAP supports low-income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS while Brothers of the Desert raises money for local scholarships to High School students local to Coachella Valley.
