Jussie Smollett Not First LGBT Act Attacked This Year

While many are still reeling after actor Jussie Smollett was attacked. Puerto Rico's lays to rest another gay performer in a separate instance of violence.

Kevin Fret was a 24 year old gay rapper and advocate of the gay community. Luckily Jussie Smollett is alive and in "good conditon' according to hospital statements issued shortly after the attack. Beyond that both stories have raised more questions than answers. In one instance Kevin Fret was allegedly extorting another artist by threatening to release a compromising "intimate tape"

Jussie Smollett has had to come out against gossip that his attack was some sort of hoax. Chicago Police official have reaffirmed that they see him as a victim; after NBC news reported that Smollett refused to turn his phone over to officials.

Our prayers go out to both families. We'll be following the story.
