LOS ANGELES, CA — When Dr. Leo Moore took the mic in Palm Springs at the Real Talk, Real Health summit, it wasn’t just a conversation—it was a call to action. Sitting across from IconCity’s own Anye Elite, the LA County physician didn’t sugarcoat the facts: too many men—especially Black and Brown men—are navigating health care blindfolded. But now, with the release of his new book, The Men’s Preventive Health Guide: What to Check, When to Check It, and Why It Matters, Dr. Moore is handing them the roadmap.
And he’s not stopping at the page. On Saturday, July 20 from 3 to 6 PM, Dunamis House at LA Room and Board will host the official book launch and signing, featuring a one-on-one conversation between Dr. Moore and acclaimed author and cultural commentator George M. Johnson (All Boys Aren’t Blue). It’s about to be part health clinic, part healing circle, and 100% necessary.

A Guide for Every Guy—At Every Age
The Men’s Preventive Health Guide isn’t your typical health manual. It’s not written in medical jargon or tucked behind paywalls. It’s straight talk backed by science—organized by decade, designed to demystify screenings, vaccinations, and lifestyle choices that can literally save lives.
“This book puts knowledge and power into the hands of every man ready to take charge,” says Dr. Moore, a board-certified physician with over 15 years of experience in internal, HIV, and lifestyle medicine.
And let’s be real—the stakes are high. For Black, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ men especially, navigating a medical system that often overlooks or misunderstands them can be exhausting. Dr. Moore knows this firsthand. That’s why his book doesn’t just drop data—it offers self-advocacy tips, HIV-specific insights, and culturally competent advice that actually lands.
Community-Centered, Purpose-Driven
The July 20 event is more than a launch party. It’s a movement. With community powerhouses like BEAM, In The Meantime Men, Better Brothers Los Angeles, Tru Evolution, and Reach LA on board, this is a full-circle collaboration for change. Expect conversation, connection, and maybe even a little confession.
Because let’s face it—talking about health isn’t always easy for men. Especially when the culture teaches you to be strong, silent, and self-sacrificing. But as Dr. Moore reminded us in Palm Springs, “There’s nothing soft about saving your own life.”
