Scott Nevins is under fire for calling Senator Tim Scott an "Uncle Tom"
(Palm Springs, CA) A comedian turned political candidate in Palm Springs is facing scrutiny after a questionable tweet directed at U.S senator Tim Scott from the state of South Carolina. According to a tip from a local Coachella Valley resident.
Of course, the ultra-conservative Fox News is responsible for the notoriety of this story, Still, the term "Uncle Tom" is considered to be offensive to many African-Americans regardless of political affiliation. See the deleted tweet below:
Is It Less Racist If A Democrat Says It?
Overall this scandal is likely to have little effect on his prospects since Nevins is running in a location with a very low population of African-Americans. Additionally, the ultra-liberal city located just 2 hours outside of Los Angeles is likely to be of the same mind when it comes to Tim Scott. The U.S. senator is famous for his unwavering support of former President Donald Trump. Additionally, even during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020, Scott toed the party line against police oversight.
Ultimately Nevins apologized for the tweet. (See Below.)
